Hey there! I’m Kalina ~ a Polish-American Visual Development Artist and Art Director based in Los Angeles, CA.
I’m currently working full time at Skydance Animation where I’ve grown from Intern to Apprentice to full fledged Visual Development Artist. Often inspired by my Slavic roots and folk art, I love to weave pattern-work and texture into my work to create lush, whimsical, and lived-in worlds. I recently served as the Mentor for the 2025 Vis Dev Apprenticeship program at Skydance Animation and have volunteered as a Mentor for the last few years at Better Youth. I also serve as the Animation Union Shop Steward at my studio.
As a generalist, I love to dabble in a little bit of everything: from the early days blue-sky explorations, research presentations, and assisting with pitches to late production assignments like texture paintings and FX. My favorite assignments are anything pattern related in an environment, anything costume design, and texture painting characters. I love taking on new challenges as I’m working toward towards my career dream of becoming a Production Designer in feature film.
Now with over 4+ years experience in CG series and features, I’ve started to enter the 2D animation space as an Art Director/Production Designer for independent short films. I’m passionate about expanding the breadth of personal narratives and inclusive subject matter within the adult animation space.
I have a BFA in Visual Development from Academy of Art University, and a Background Design Certificate from Emile Cohl Atelier.
